How to request deletion of your data
If you have interacted with Miami Skin Center via our website, Instagram Direct Messages, Facebook Messenger, comments on our social posts, email, or our patient inbox, you can ask us to delete the data we hold about you. This page explains exactly how.
Step-by-step instructions
- Send us an email from the account you want deleted
Email info@miamiskincenters.com from the email address you used to contact us, or include your Instagram or Facebook handle in the body of the message so we can match the request to your records.
- Use the subject line "Data Deletion Request"
This routes your message to our HIPAA Privacy Officer immediately and keeps it out of normal patient triage.
- Tell us what you want deleted (optional)
You can ask us to delete everything, or limit the request to specific channels — for example, only your Instagram DMs, or only your website inquiry. If you don't specify, we delete all non-medical records we hold about you.
- We confirm within 30 days
We respond to every valid request within 30 calendar days. We will confirm what was deleted, what (if anything) we are required to retain by law, and the effective date of the deletion.
What gets deleted
- Instagram Direct Messages and Facebook Messenger conversation history processed by our patient inbox.
- Comments and replies on our Instagram or Facebook posts that we have stored for follow-up.
- Website contact-form submissions, lead records, and notes attached to them.
- Email threads addressed to info@miamiskincenters.com or related practice mailboxes.
- Any photographs you sent us that are not part of a clinical encounter.
- Automated logs that contain your name, email, IP address, or social handle.
What does NOT get deleted
A data deletion request does not affect anything outside our systems. Specifically:
- Your Instagram or Facebook account itself remains untouched. We can only delete the copies of your messages that are stored in our patient inbox. To remove your account, profile, or your own posts, you must use Meta's own tools.
- Medical records covered by HIPAA are not eligible for deletion on request. Florida law requires us to retain medical records for at least 5 years after the last patient encounter (longer for minors). At the end of that retention period, the records are destroyed securely.
- Records we are required to keep for tax, billing, insurance, or compliance reasons are retained until those obligations expire, but are not used for any other purpose.
- Aggregated, anonymized analytics (which cannot be linked back to you) are not affected.
Removing your data from Instagram and Facebook
If you also want Meta itself to delete the copy of your messages and profile that lives in your Instagram or Facebook account, you can do that directly through Meta:
